The funeral of Captain John Manning took place yesterday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church, the service being conducted by Rev. Patrick Vereker, who preached a very impressive sermon from the text, "I am the Resurrection and the Life," closing with a brief eulogy on the long and useful life of the deceased. An edifying feature of the service was a baritone solo, "Calvary," sung with much feeling by Joseph Bender. The church was filled with sorrowing friends and relatives of the departed. The pall bearers were Hon. James Foust, of Altoona; John R. Hunter, Roller Thompson, Harry I. Davis, and John F. Walsh. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
