All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ MARBLE Howard Marble, a butcher and one of the best known residents of the farming district, died at his home at Newry at 12:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon of a complication of diseases after a brief illness. Mr. Marble, who was born at Newry, Aug. 22, 1881, occupied a stall at the Green avenue market for the past few years and was well known throughout the entire county. His father, Nathan Marble, survives, he being a resident of this city. His wife, Mary Diehl Marble, and three children, James, Anna and Margaretta, all at home, survive as do the following brothers and sisters: Frank, New York state; Henry, Braddock; Roy and Samuel, Duncansville; Mrs. J. Calvin Kephart, Columbus, O., and Mrs. John Noel, of this city. He was a member of the Newry Lutheran church. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and burial will be made in the Lutheran cemetery. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Saturday Morning, October 26, 1918 NEWRY The funeral of Howard Marble was held at his late home on North Bedford street on Sunday afternoon. Interment was made in the Newry Lutheran cemetery. Mr. Marble was once among the best known business men of the town where he had spent his whole life. In all his business affairs he endeavored to act justly between man and man. He took a deep interest in all improvements that were inaugurated for the benefit of his native town, serving several years as an active member of the town concert. His sudden and unexpected death was a great shock to the community, his active participation and sound judgment will be much missed in the town. His bereaved family and friends have the sympathy of the people in their sad bereavement. Frank Marble of New York, Henry Marble of Braddock, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Kephart of Columbus, Ohio; Nathan Marble, Mr. and Mrs. John Nole of Altoona, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Marble of Duncansville were in town on Sunday attending the funeral of Howard Marble.
