James Calvin Markel was born March 31, 1852. His wife preceded him to the grave in February, 1924. These sons and daughters survive his death: Luther of Thomastown; George at home; A. C., at Charlottesville; Herbert of Beaver Falls; Milton of Fostoria; Mrs. J. M. Johnson, of Pine Grove Mills; Mrs. J. M. Keller, Mrs. W. W. Keller, Mrs. R. C. Salkeld and Mrs. C. E. Wilson, all of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Don C. Davis, of Waynesburg. One brother, Dr. A. R. Markel of Palm City, Florida and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah J. Warner and Mrs. Mary Charlotte Kepler of Pine Grove Mills also survive. The funeral cortege will leave the home Saturday at 2 p.m. and proceed to the Grazierville Methodist church where services will be conducted by H. G. Dooley, pastor of the Baptist Church of Bellwood, assisted by Reverend H. H. Harshbarger. Interment at Charlottesville Cemetery, Pa. Tyrone Daily Herald, July 5, 1928, page 2
