At a quarter past 10 o'clock yesterday morning Mrs. Mary J., wife of Samuel Markley, died at her home, 1519 Ninth street, from disease incident to a complication of ailments. Ill for several months, she bore her pain and suffering as befits a patient Christian. Deceased was a daughter of William and Elizabeth Harman, deceased, and was born near McAllisterville, November 6, 1833. She was married about forty-two years ago, and came to this city with her husband eighteen years ago and has resided here ever since. Mrs. Markley was a consistent member of the First Lutheran church. She is survived by her husband and seven children: Mrs. Sadie Fleck, William H., and Harry Markley, of Altoona; Christopher, George, Hiram and Samuel Markley, of Roanoke, Va.; also by the following sisters and brothers: Miss Sarah Harman, Mrs. Elizabeth Ober, Harry and William Harman, of Juniata county. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon, services to be conducted in the First Lutheran church at 4 o'clock. Interment in Fairview cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Saturday, July 9, 1898
