Miss Martha Jane Martin died at the residence of her sister, Mrs. J. K. McLanahan, in Hollidaysburg, yesterday morning. She was born in Huntingdon, Pa., on the 31st of March, 1835, and her parents shortly after removed to Hollidaysburg. At their death she became a member of her sister's family, to whom she has been devoted ever since. She will be sincerely mourned by a large number of friends, and will be greatly missed in society here. She endeared herself to all, especially the young people by her winning disposition and sympathetic nature. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian church from early womanhood, was for many years a teacher in the Sunday school and a member of the choir. She was always ready to do her part in every good work, and followed the Master she loved all her life. He knew her "works and love and faith, and ministry and patience," and when "life's transient dream" was ended, took her to dwell in the heavenly home, where she shall "go no more out forever." Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the house of Mr. J. K. McLanahan on Allegheny street. Interment in the Presbyterian cemetery.
