Nicholas Martinkovick, an Austrian track hand, employed under Track Foreman John Justice, between Hollidaysburg and Spring Meadow, died yesterday morning at 7.30 o'clock of pneumonia at his home in Gaysport. The man had worked for many hours shoveling snow on the tracks and came home about 4 o'clock yesterday morning. He was a [unreadable] resided with two countrymen in one of the Queen Ann houses owned by Captain John H. Law near the old gas house on Bedford street. Upon coming home from work, he complained of being unwell and went to bed, where he died at the above named time. Dr. Frank R. Shoemaker was called to the house and pronounced death due to pneumonia, contracted likely from exposure. The deceased was born in Austria on September 18, 1872, and came to this country about fifteen years ago, having been employed under Mr. Justice on the track for the past eleven years. He was a quiet, inoffensive man and a steady and efficient workman, who was well liked by his fellow workers and all others who knew him. His wife died in Austria, where he has several children living. He has a sister residing at Pittsburg, but no other relatives in this country. Deputy Coroner Chester Rothrock came here yesterday morning to inquire into the man's death, and after ascertaining the facts, decided that an inquest was not necessary. The body was given in charge of Funeral Director F. J. Wolfand and prepared for burial. The funeral services will be held at St. Mary's' Roman Catholic church at 9 o'clock on Wednesday morning and interment will be made in St. Mary's cemetery.
