Mrs. Sarah Mason, believed to be the oldest resident of Blair county, died 
yesterday morning at 8 o’clock in the Blair county home near Hollidaysburg, of 
a complication of diseases.  She was one of the first Catholics to be baptized 
by the famous Prince Gallitzin, at the church now near Loretto.  She was the 
oldest member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic church, Hollidaysburg, and was the 
widow of John Mason, a Mexican war veteran.  She is the last of the family and 
formerly resided in Altoona.  Two nieces survive in the South.
