The death angel visited the home of George and Florence Massic February 22, at their home south of Roaring Spring, and claimed the soul of Orpha Irene Massic who was born May 1, 1897. Orpha is survived by her parents and the following brothers and sisters: Alice, Ada, Paul, Elvin, Emory and Rachael. One brother, Elmer, preceded her to the spirit world two years ago. The family are heart broken over the loss of another of their children so soon, both taken in the bloom of youth. Orpha was nearing her 17th birthday. Her smiling countenance will be sadly missed in her home and in the "Truth Seekers" Sunday school class of the Church of the Brethren of which she was a member. About one year ago disease took hold of her which developed into tuberculosis which ended her life. When she realized that the end must soon come she felt the need and guidance of higher power and accepted Christ as her Savior. She was baptized in a tank in her home after which she desired to go home. In her last moments she bade her dear ones a fond farewell and asked them to follow her Savior and peacefully passed into rest. All that fond parents could do was done to restore her; both for her temporal and spiritual welfare. And since it was God's plan to transplant her so early, and her sun was set so beautifully, may the lingering rays of its setting reflect a light that shall assure us all such a glorious passing, to the unseen. The funeral was conducted at the Church of the Brethren at Roaring Spring Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, by her pastor, Rev. A.G. [missing line] assisted by Rev. D.B. [missing line] interment in [missing] Sun cemetery beside her mother. The church was crowded with sorrowing friends who went to show their last respect. Morrisons Cove Herald, Friday, March 6, 1914
