In loving memory of Norman Ross Mattern: Norman Ross Mattern, son of William and Alice Mattern, of Canoe Creek, died at 4 o'clock on Monday afternoon, November 13, at his home, after an illness of three weeks and three days of scarlet fever. He was aged 6 years, 9 months and 6 days. He is survived by his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Ruth, Ida, Jacob, Harry, Glenn, Clayton and Frank, all at home. Dearest Norman, thou hast left us, Here thy loss we deeply feel; But 'tis God that hath bereft us, He can all our sorrows heal. Peaceful be thy silent slumber, Peaceful in thy grave so low; Thou no more will join our number, Thou no more our songs shall know. Yet again we hope to meet thee, When the day of life is fled; Then in heaven with joy to greet thee, Where no farewell tear is shed. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday Morning, November 25, 1916
