MATTHEWS Of 1307-9th Ave., formerly of Skelp, died at 8:31 p.m. Friday, June 8, 1979, in Altoona Hospital, where he had been admitted that day. Mr. Matthews was a dispatcher for the middle division of the Pennsylvania Railroad before retiring in 1963 after 21 years of service. He was born Dec. 2, 1910, in Altoona, a son of Garfield P. and Bessie (Knotts) Matthews, and he married Elizabeth M. Cliber who died Jan. 17, 1979. Surviving is a sister, Pearl B. Crawford of Duncansville. Mr. Matthews was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church and the church Sunday school. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Carn Funeral Home. MATTHEWS - Service for George P. Matthews of 1307-9th Ave., formerly of Skelp, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Carn Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Kuhns. Interment in Alto Reste Burial Park.
