No particulars were stated in the message, other than the date. The young man had been in France for several months, with the 28th division, and it is thought that he was killed during the preliminary attacks on the St. Mihiel sector. He was killed one day after John Kelly was reported as missing, and these two men were in the same division. The soldier's mother could not be located last night, and but little information was available. His father, William C. Mauk, died several years ago. Altoona Times, Saturday Morning, October 12, 1918
