All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ JOHN MAYWHORT John Maywhort, a well known and highly esteemed resident of this city, died at his home, 822 Eighteenth avenue, Sunday morning at 4:15 o'clock, from a complication of diseases. He was born at Crewe, Cheshire, England, June 27, 1843, and has been a resident of Altoona for over forty-three years, the greater part of his time being spent in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad company. On June 8, 1867, he wedded Miss Annie Boss, who survives, with one daughter. Deceased is also survived by two sisters in America and one brother in England. Mr. Maywhort entered the service of the company May 24, 1873, and worked almost continuously until September, 1908. He was a member of the Pennsy Relief association, and also of St. Luke's Protestant Episcopal church. He was a man of exemplary habits, a substantial Christian gentleman and a man of quiet and unassuming nature. Funeral services will be conducted from the late home tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with interment in Fairview cemetery.
