BERTHA M'CABE IS TAKEN BY DEATH, HUBER STREET HOME Deceased Was Native of Hollidaysburg; Funeral Tuesday Mrs. Bertha (Colbert) McCabe, aged 62, widow of William E. McCabe, died at 1:30 o'clock this morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Betts, 819 Huber Street, with whom she resided. Mrs. McCabe was born in Hollidaysburg on May 25, 1878, a daughter of the late James and Caroline (Gray) Colbert. She is survived by three daughters-- Miriam, wife of John W. Schad of 130 Catherine Street; Edna, wife of Thomas E. O'Connell of 806 Railroad Street, and Estella, wife of George E. Betts, mentioned above. She also leaves 11 grandchildren. The deceased had one sister, Anna Colbert, who preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Gualbert's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Geistown, under the direction of Thomas A. Kennedy. Johnstown Tribune, 26 June 1940, p. 19 Funeral of Mrs. McCabe The funeral of Mrs. Bertha (Colbert) McCabe, 62, was conducted yesterday morning in St. John Gualbert's Catholic Church, Clinton Street, and was largely attended. Mrs. McCabe died last Saturday at the home of her son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Betts of 819 Huber Street, after an illness of only three days. The requiem mass was sun by Rev. Father Albert Gartland, assistant rector. Committal services at the grave in the church cemetery, Geistown, were conducted by Rev. Father Francis J. Gorney, assistant rector. Pallbearers were Clement Boxler, Edward Betts, Albert Lohr, Joseph Rogers, John Betts and Stephen Andrews. Out-of-town relatives in attendance were Mrs. Mary McCabe of Altoona, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Manspeaker and daughter Betty of Mt. Union, Mrs. Ruth Brumbaugh and daughter Louise and Mrs. Catherine Shade, all of Hollidaysburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dipple and family of Canton, O. Johnstown Tribune, 22 June 1940, p. 16
