Matthew McCall, a retired fireman and Civil war veteran, died last evening at 8:20 o'clock at his home, 153 Broad street, Gaysport of bronchial congestion he having been a sufferer with asthma for many years. He was a son of Matthew McCall and was born near Marklesburg, Huntingdon county, on July 30, 1846. For a number of years he resided on a farm near Williamsburg, retiring last March, at which time he removed to Gaysport and has resided there since. He served his country faithfully during the war of the Rebellion as a member of Company C, 125th Pennsylvania volunteers. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren and was a good citizen, and upright Christian man. Four sons survive: Isaac N. and Alvin L., of Gaysport; Samuel, of Hollidaysburg and Harvey, of Johnstown. He is also survived by three sisters: Mrs. Ellen Gettic, of Saxton; Mrs. Sarah Anderson, of Mapleton; Mrs. Mary Hessner, of Huntingdon; also six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at the James Creek Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon county, on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock the cortege proceeding from Gaysport to that place by automobile, the body being conveyed by Undertakers H. A. Bechtel & Son, of Williamsburg. Interment will be made in Brumbaugh cemetery. (Huntingdon county papers please copy.) Altoona Tribune, Monday morning, July 22, 1918, page 2
