McCartney, died at her home in Juniata gap at 2:15 yesterday morning of pneumonia following an illness of a week. She was born on March 6, 1860, in Juniata gap and lived her entire life in that vicinity. She was the daughter of James and Emily Thompson, both deceased, and was united in marriage with Mr. McCartney on Feb. 22, 1881. The husband and three children survive, Mrs. C. J. Wirth of this city, Susan, at home, and J. D. Hicks McCartney who is in the United States naval service. He is on the battleship Oklahoma and is presumed to be with the fleet which is acting as an escort of President Wilson and party in foreign waters. The deceased was a member of the Juniata Gap Methodist church and was held in high esteem among a large circle of friends. The funeral will be held in the Juniata Gap Methodist church on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made at the Union cemetery in Juniata Gap.
