He has been ill for several months suffering from a complication of diseases. He was born on Sept. 1, 1856, in Wehnwood, being a son of Dougle and Phoebe (Gray) McCartney, deceased. He was married to Miss Margaret A. Stover of Altoona, and he is survived by the widow and three children, W. Chester and John M. McCartney, both of Wehnwood, and Miss Maria B. McCartney, at home. Surviving also are a brother, D. Marion McCartney of Wehnwood, and a sister, Mrs. Nancy J. Ream of Wehnwood, and thirteen grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the residence of the son, John McCartney, in Wehnwood on Thursday afternoon with Rev. Harry Fisher of the Wehnwood United Brethren church. Interment will follow in Grandview cemetery. Friends are asked to omit flowers.
