McCaulley, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mahlon Maurer of Wehnwood, of diseases incident to advanced age. She was born May 16, 1841, on the farm of her father, Abraham Reese, one of the pioneer settlers of this section when Hollidaysburg was the center of population. She was a lifelong resident of the community, one of a family being noted for their musical talent. She was also a charter member of the First Baptist church of Altoona and was widely known and held in high esteem for her kindness of heart and helpfulness to those in need. Although almost 86 years of age, she took the keenest interest in civic affairs and the welfare of her neighbors and friends. She was surrounded by her children at the time of her death, of whom seven survive: Mrs. Jennie Gibson, William McCaulley, Mrs. Lida Baker, Mrs. Mertle Maurer and Bertram McCaulley, all of this city. Her husband, Thomas D. McCaulley, preceded her to the grave twenty-one years ago; also Mrs. Effie Wills, wife of W. W. Wills of Fairview. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Allie Leamer of Altoona and a half-brother Professor William Reese of Frankstown. She is survived by thirty-four grandchildren. Services will be held at the home of W. M. Maurer of Wehnwood Monday, to be conducted by her pastor, Rev. Cary S. Thomas of the First Baptist church. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
