MARY ELLEN McCLAIN

Of 1506 Logan Ave., Tyrone, died at 1:30 p.m. yesterday, Feb. 18, 1974, at 
Valley View Home, where she had resided for the past three weeks, after a 
lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 15, 1898, in Tyrone, a daughter of John and 
Mary (Sullivan) Carling, and married Edward R. McClain. Surviving are her 
husband, three daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Cox and Mrs. Stella Brenneman of Tyrone 
and Mrs. Mary Martin of York; two stepchildren, Mrs. Velda Chatnick of Richmond, 
Va., and Edward G. McClain of Baltimore, Md.; 12 grandchildren, six step-
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and two 
sisters and a brother, Mrs. Naomi Cunningham of Lewistown and Augustus and Mrs. 
Frances O'Rourke of Tyrone, Mrs. McClain was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic 
Church, Tyrone, and the auxiliary of B. of R.T. Friends will be received in the 
Johnson Funeral Home, Tyrone, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
