A few minutes after one o'clock Sunday morning at his home at Tipton, William H. McClelan [sic], an aged resident of that place, succumbed to a brief illness from pneumonia. Deceased was a native of Antis township being born there March 24, 1844. At the call for volunteers in the early days of the great rebellion Mr. McClellan enlisted in One Hundred and Twenty-fifth regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer infantry for a period of nine months. When mustered out at the close of the period, he again enlisted, this time in the Twenty-second regiment of the Pennsylvania cavalry where he spent two more years for his country. He was one of the best known citizens in Antis township. Besides his wife he leaves these children: John and Hayes, of Tipton; Thornton F., of Erdon, Pa., and William A., of Allmans, Pa. Funeral services will be held in the Methodist Episcopal church at Tipton at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning and interment made at Charlottesville cemetery. Tyrone Herald, Tyrone, Pa., May 11, 1911
