All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm CANAN STATION YOUTH KILLED IN OHIO CRASH A Canan Station youth, Raymond Elwood McConnell, aged 23, working in Youngtown, O., was injured fatally in a motorcycle accident there yesterday afternoon, dying at 7.58 o’clock last evening in St. Elizabeth hospital, Youngstown. Details of the accident were lacking when the family was notified of his death last evening. They learned, however, that the accident occurred at 4.15 o’clock yesterday afternoon, presumably as he was returning from work. The young man was born in Altoona Nov. 27, 1927, a son of Raymond and Esther (Cashman) McConnell of Canan Station. He was employed by the Youngstown Steel Door company, car siding division. The body is being returned to Altoona and friends will be received at the Laughlin funeral home after 7 o’clock tomorrow evening. Surviving are his parents, his wife, Mrs. Arlene (Feathers) McConnell; the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Deloris Feathers and Robert, in Ohio, Charles, Timothy, Harry, Samuel, David, Benjamin and Josephine, all at the home; the paternal grandfather, Hank McConnell, and the maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Harry H. Cashman of the city.
