He was born Jan. 19, 1869, in Irwin, a son of John and Mary (Smith) McConnell. He retired from the company service May 31, 1932. Surviving [are] his wife, Mary Ellen (Havlin) McConnell, whom he married July 3, 1900 in Altoona; a niece, Miss Gertrude Bouldin McConnell, at home, and one brother, Charles E., of Pitcairn. He was a member of the Foremen's association and the Grace Reformed church. He was an ardent follower of baseball. Friends will be received at the family home. McCONNELL - Funeral services for Samuel Smith McConnell, of 300 Walnut avenue, will be held from the family home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. Ralph J. Harrity.
