Robert Wallace McCoy, born at Harrisburg, October 21, 1867, only son and living child of General Robert A. and Mrs. Emma McCoy, died at the home of his parents, on Logan street, Saturday evening at 8.45 o'clock, aged 23 years, 2 months and 3 days. On last Thanksgiving Day Robert, with several of his young associates, attended the foot ball contest between the Princeton and Yale college clubs at Brooklyn, N.Y., and a few days thereafter, on his way home, caught a severe cold, which confined him to his home and eventually developed into a severe case of pneumonia, resulting in death, as stated. His education was obtained and his school days were spent first at the Misses Luckenbaugh private academy, at Harrisburg; at the public schools of Tyrone; at the Mountain seminary, Birmingham, and Media academy, Chester county, and in August, 1887, he accepted a position in the Blair county bank, having charge of the individual ledger as book keeper, which position he held at the date of his death. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of this place, and also a member and treasurer of the Young Men's Republican club and treasurer of the Young Men's Beneficial society, lately organized. "Bob," as he was more familiarly known, was one of those pleasant, whole-souled, genial, honest, upright, straightforward young men, without a known enemy, and it was a pleasure to be numbered amongst his friends, and many will be the silent tears shed and numerous the expressions of regret at his early demise. To the sadly bereft and loving parents the sympathy of this entire community is extended. Funeral services will be held to-morrow (Tuesday) morning at 10.30 o'clock, after which the remains will be taken on day express to Harrisburg and from thence conveyed to the residence of Thomas L. Wallace, 202 Walnut street, where a short service will be had, and from thence to Mount Kalmia cemetery for interment. And thus we are compelled to record the passing away of one who a few short weeks ago was full of life and buoyant with prospects of future usefulness.
