McCracken died yesterday afternoon at the home of his son-in- law, Harry Hufford, at 2316 Seventh avenue. The cause of death was cancer, from which he suffered for some time. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Monday Morning, April 22, 1918 McCRACKEN. James M. McCracken, brief mention of whose death was made in yesterday's Times, died at 7.30 o'clock Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nina Hufford, 2315 Seventh avenue, of cancer. He had been a patient at the Altoona hospital for five weeks, but two weeks ago was brought to the home of his daughter. He was born Feb. 13, 1850, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James McCracken of Westmoreland county. He had been a resident of this city for the past thirty-six years, being engaged as a carriage builder. His wife preceded him to the grave eleven years ago. Three daughters are also deceased. Mr. McCracken was a member of the P.O.S.A., Camp 31. He is survived by the following children: John D. McCracken of Galva, Ill., Mrs. Mary Burkhart of 2105 Beale avenue, Mrs. Nina Hufford, at whose home he died, James H. McCracken of Camp Lee, Va., J. Willard McCracken of this city, Miss Pearl of Florida and Miss Helen of Gary, Ind. Funeral services will be held at the home of his daughter on this evening at 7.30 o'clock. The body will be taken to Blairsville at 7.40 o'clock Wednesday morning where interment will be made. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday Morning, April 23, 1918
