Captain John J. McDonald,

Who for the last nine years assisted in the management of Brown's 
hotel, in this city, died at the home of his mother in Steubenville, 
Ohio, at 3 o'clock yesterday morning.  He was aged 53 years.  For two 
years his health had been bad, being a sufferer from diabetes, and two 
weeks ago he went to his mother's home.  He served in the late war.  He 
was a quiet unassuming man of gentlemanly deportment, and had many 
friends in the city.  His remains were interred at Steubenville at 2 
o'clock this afternoon.  Mr. and Mrs. George H. Brown have gone to 
Steubenville to attend the funeral.
