McGARVEY Aged 55, supervisor of tracks for the Eastern division, Pennsylvania railroad, and a native of Altoona, died at his home, 30 Elm street, Sharon, at 7.30 o'clock last night after an illness of several months. He was born in Altoona on Nov. 5, 1886, a son of the late Phillip and Caroline (Allman) McGarvey of Altoona. He was graduated from St. Vincent college class of 1905, and from the University of Delaware, class of 1908, after which he entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company. Mr. McGarvey was a resident of Sharon for the past three years, going there from Beaver. He was a member of St. Joseph's church, Elks lodge, No. 103, Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name society. He was well known in the Altoona district. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Kelly McGarvey; three daughters, Mrs. Francis Ray of Dundalk, Baltimore, Geraldine of Rochester, N.Y., and Annjenne, a nurse at St. Joseph's hospital, Pittsburgh; a son, James Phillip, three brothers, Charles and Francis of Altoona and William of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Mollie of Altoona, and one grandson. The body will arrive in Altoona late tomorrow evening and friends will be received at the N. A. Stevens mortuary Sunday. McGARVEY - Funeral services for Edward W. McGarvey of Sharon, former Altoona resident, will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock with requiem mass at Mount Carmel Catholic church. Interment in Calvary cemetery.
