LAVINA McGARVEY, Wife of the late Joseph McGarvey, died yesterday morning at 8 o'clock at the home of her son, John McGarvey, Christy Park, Allegheny county. The deceased was a former resident of this city, her husband having died in Logan township in 1877. Since that time she has made her home in various places with her children and friends. She was aged 70 years, 5 months and 4 days, and is survived by three sons and three daughters. These are James of this city, John of Christy Park, George B. of New Mexico, Mrs. Henry Wicker and Mrs. Thomas Chipperfield of this city, and Mrs. Mary Gray of Baker's Mines. Also the following brothers and sisters: Rev. W. B. Purdy of Jefferson county, Samuel Purdy in the west, Mrs. Phoebe Peck of Ohio, Mrs. Read and Mrs. Westover of Clearfield county, and Mrs. Andrews of Grand Rapids, Mich. The remains were brought to this city today and taken to the First Baptist church, at which place they will remain until tomorrow at 2 o'clock, when services will be held there, after which the interment will be made in Fairview cemetery.
