MCGINNIS Constable William Harrison McGinnis, one of the most widely known citizens of Roaring Spring, passed away at his home on East M---- street, Tuesday evening, at 9.15 o'clock, death being due to cancer of the liver from which he suffered for more than a year, although he had only been confined to his bed for a period of six weeks. His death had been expected for several days. The death of Mr. McGinnis removes from the borough one of its most useful citizens as well as an unbiased officer of the law. He was prominent in the community as a contractor and also held a multitude of borough offices during the past thirty years. He served the community as borough policeman and constable for a period of twenty consecutive years and was efficient in the performance of his duties. As an officer and man, the deceased constable was absolutely without fear. Mr. McGinnis also held the position of health officer of the borough at the time of his death and was caretaker of Greenlawn cemetery. Other offices which he filled successfully for years included street commissioner, truant officer and water superintendent. Martinsburg Herald, Hand-written date of March 26, 1920
