McGovern, 324 West Fifteenth street, died at his home Sunday morning at 11:15 o'clock, following an extended illness. He was born in Tyrone March 4, 1889, the son of Peter and Mary McGovern. Surviving is his mother, Mrs. Mary McGovern, with whom he made his home; a brother, William F. McGovern, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Sidney Smith, Bayonne, N. J.; a grandson and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Columbia Avenue Methodist Church. He had been manager of the Burkett Advertising Company, Altoona, for the past 18 years, and also had been prominent in Altoona in promoting drives for the Community Chest, March of Dimes, Cancer drives and others. He was a veteran of World War I. Funeral services will be held at the Graham and Getz funeral parlors Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. Dennis Smith. Burial will be in Grandview cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., January 16, 1950
