Thomas McGovern died at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Donnelly, corner Columbia avenue and Fifteenth street, at half past one o'clock Wednesday Dec. 16, from heart failure. The home of the McGovern family is at Gallitzin. A week ago they came to Tyrone to spend a season visiting friends here. He was aged 44 years, 10 months and 16 days. He spent nearly all his life in this immediate community, his parents and their family of children having their home in Tyrone for many years. Thomas McGovern, like his father and brothers, was a contractor, and on account of it being more convenient to his operation he lived at Gallitzin. On the 6th of April, 1893, Thomas McGovern was married to Miss Mary McCormick, of Sinking Valley. His wife and one daughter, Helen, survive him. Three children are dead. One sister and two brothers survive, viz: Mrs. Daniel Donnelly, of Tyrone; Patrick McGovern, of Punxsutawney, and Peter McGovern, of Rochester Mills, Indiana county. The deceased was a member of the St. Matthews Catholic church of Tyrone. The funeral were held Saturday morning. Services were conducted by Rev. P. Bohan at St. Matthews church at 9 o'clock, interment following at Oak Grove cemetery. The Tyrone Herald, Thursday, December 24, 1903
