A former resident of this city, died in Philadelphia, where he had lived for the past few years, on Wednesday of this week. His funeral will take place from his late residence, 4965 Girard avenue, on Monday morning. Requiem mass will be celebrated in the Mother of Sorrow church. Interment in Holy Cross cemetery in Philadelphia. Mr. McGrath came to this city from Reading in the sixties and was for a long time employed as a machinist in the railroad shops. Just before leaving here he was a tax collector in the third ward. He leaves his wife, who was Eliza Murphy and whom he married here, and several children. He is also survived by two brothers, William and Thomas, the latter a resident of Johnstown. Altoona Mirror, January 5, 1895
