James McIntire, a well known resident of Blair township, died at his home last evening at 6.20 o'clock of paralysis, aged 84 years. The deceased followed the pursuits of farming and has resided on the farm where he died, for sixty years. He was an upright citizen and raised a large family of children, of whom the following, beside his wife, survive: Martin, of East Hollidaysburg; John, of Gaysport; Amos, of Allegheny township; Lincoln, of Blair township; Leoma Fanders, of Philadelphia, and Priscilla wife of Elias Lyon, of Williamsburg. Funeral services will be conducted at the house on Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment in the McIntire cemetery in Blair township. Mr. McIntire was the supervisor of this township for more than 50 years. Actuated by highly benevolent motives, he recently laid out on his lands a cemetery where families could bury their dead, without money and without price. In the mysterious workings of Providence, the founder of the cemetery will be the first one laid to rest within its confines. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Friday, July 21, 1899
