The venerable Edward McKiernan, of Williamsburg, departed this life at his residence in Williamsburg, at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, after a somewhat protracted illness, surrounded by most of his immediate family. Mr. McKiernan was born in Philadelphia, February, 1802, and was, therefore, in his 79th year. For half a century he has been a resident of this county, and has ever been held in the highest respect by his fellow-citizens. He has held the office of Justice of the Peace of Woodberry township six consecutive terms, and with two previous terms, making his term of Justice about --ty years. Mr. McKiernan was a Democrat, but in that strong Republican township the people voted for him without partisan distinction. This of itself speaks a --ing memorial for the good old man who has gone to rest full of years, and with the respect and honor of the people among whom he has so long made his abode. With the exception of a son who was killed at the battle of Fredericksburg this is the first death in the McKiernan family. The children have been widely separated, and this mournful occasion brought all the remaining members of the family together for the first in a long time. There were present John S.; Thomas, of this city; Dr. Frank, of Kittanning; Mrs. Maria Vaughan, of this city; Catharine, a member of the order of Sisters of Charity of Tidioute, Pa.; Charles T., Margaret and Anna Mary, all of Williamsburg. His funeral will take place at 11 o'clock to-morrow morning. Peace to his ashes. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, June 7, 1880
