McLaughlin born April 28, 1929, a native of Tyrone, Pennsylvania, passed away September 27, 2006 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after a lengthy illness. After graduation from Penn State University with a degree in Inorganic Chemistry, he came to Oak Ridge in 1955 with the Nuclear Division of Union Carbide Corporation and retired from Martin Marietta in 1992. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Clarissa and Andrew McLaughlin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Hazel; brother, William McLaughlin of Tyrone, PA; daughter, Denise Davis and husband, Jim of Clinton; son, Andy McLaughlin and wife, Lisa of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Jessica, Jaimee, Jill and Jake McLaughlin of Oak Ridge, Jimmy Davis of Clinton, and great-grandson, Aiden Davis of Clinton. A member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, he was active for the past 30 years, serving as Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee, Usher's Committee, and Lector. He served in the United States Army and was also the Scoutmaster for Troop 128 from 1963 until 1974. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the funeral service. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 212 N. Tulane Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830, Oak Ridge Elks Lodge 1684, 684 Emory Valley Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or charity of your choice. Weatherford Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
