Mrs. Joanna Elizabeth McMurtrie passed away at her home on East Twelfth street at 1 o'clock yesterday morning, death being due to a complication of diseases from which she had been a patient sufferer for the past six months. Joanna Elizabeth McMurtrie was born at Millheim on September 18, 1853, and was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Ann Omo. She moved to Tyrone about forty-five years ago and had resided here ever since. On April 3, 1973, she was united in marriage with Howard E. McMurtrie, who preceded her to the grave twenty-six years ago. Surviving to mourn her death are the following children: Charles W. McMurtrie, of Tyrone; Harry C. McMurtrie, of Philadelphia; Mrs. W. W. Largent and Edward R. McMurtrie, of Tyrone. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Chas. Omo, of Huntingdon; Timothy and Harry Omo, of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Frank Grazier, of Tyrone. Deceased was an active member of the First Methodist Episcopal church and the Lady Viola Rebekah lodge. Possessing a kind and loving disposition, she readily made friends with all whom she came in contact and her demise will be mourned by many. Funeral services will be conducted at the late home on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. A. S. Fasick, D.D., pastor of the First Methodist church. Interment in Grand View Cemetery.
