M'NEAL FALLS IN BATTLE John Hildebrand Writes a Letter Home Telling of Comrade's Death Orris L. McNeal, one of Tyrone's most popular young men, has made the supreme sacrifice on the fields of France. Numerous rumors were afloat regarding the young man but as no official notice was received by the parents they lived in hopes that their son was still living. But a letter was received from John Hildebrand, a comrade, stating that Orris L. McNeal had fallen September 26. Orris L. McNeal was the son of Isaac B. and Bertha J. McNeal and was born in Tyrone September 4, 1897. He was a member of Troop B and was later transferred to the 103rd Trench Mortar battery. He is survived by his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Martin A., Myrtle, Dorothy, Mary, Isaac, jr., and Royer E. He was a most congenial young man and won friends everywhere. Before he entered the service he was employed as a locomotive machinist at the P.R.R. enginehouse, where he was held in high esteem by his employers and fellow workmen.
