McNelis, 95, of 15 East 14th Street, Tyrone, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 3, 1993, at 3:03 p.m., at Tyrone Hospital following an extended illness. She was born April 7, 1897, in Snyder Township, the daughter of James and Agnes (Schell) McNelis. She is survived by a sister, Marguerite DeMunick of Tyrone and three nieces and three nephews: Kathleen Murphy of Arleta, California; Rosemary Snider of Pasadena, California and Marjorie Waznak of Tyrone; Eugene McNelis, Bernard McNelis and Paul McNelis, all of Tyrone. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. She was a member of the St. Matthew's Catholic Church. She was a charter member of Court St. Rita Catholic Daughters of America, a charter member of the Historical Society of Tyrone, and a member of Bell Telephone Pioneers - John Davis Council. She retired in 1962 from the Bell Telephone Company with 38 years of service. She was one of the operators on duty throughout the 1936 flood in Tyrone. Mass of Christian Burial will be said Wednesday, April 7, 1993, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church with Father Carl A. Spishak as celebrant. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m., where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., April 5, 1993, page 2
