He was a switch tender for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Born in Vermont, August 15, 1879, he was the son of John and Nettie (Godfrey) Medling. Members of the family including his wife, Nan Irene Medling, three sons, James of Cleveland, Lewis and Albert both of Altoona, five brothers, Joseph of Mt. Union, Ernest and Russell both of Cleveland, Ohio, Ira of Lorraine, Ohio and Bert of Petersburg, Pa. Six sisters, Mrs. James (Mary Cora) Hildebrand of Altoona, Mrs. William (Catherine) Murtha, Mrs. Ella Harkleroad, Mrs. Pearl Miller all of Johnstown, Pa., Mrs. Fred (Mabel) Sauers of Lorraine, Ohio, and Mrs. Dewit DeArment of Petersburg, Pa. Mr. Medling was a member of Wesley Memorial Church and the P.R.R. Relief. The funeral was held from Mauk and Yates Funeral Home in Altoona, with services at 2 o'clock.
