Mrs. Mary Mentzer, widow of the late Jeremiah Mentzer, died at her home, in Frankstown, on Thursday evening at 11 o'clock, of paralysis. Mrs. Mentzer was born in Bedford county, Dec. 24, 1824, her maiden name being Mary Working. She was married to Mr. Mentzer in that county fifty-six years ago and came to Frankstown in 1871, where her husband died three years ago. She was a member of the Lutheran church of Geeseytown and was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She was the mother of ten children, nine of whom are living, viz.: Charles and George, of Nebraska; Mrs. O. B. Fluke, of Pittsburg; Mrs. Emma Wertz, of Martinsburg; Frank, Albert, Irvin, Scott and Samuel, all of Frankstown. She is also survived by sixty-three grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and these sisters and brothers: Mrs. J. L. Freet, of Altoona; Mrs. Christina Keagy and Mrs. Hanna Rose, of Martinsburg; Amanda and Samuel Working, of New Enterprise, Bedford county. The funeral services will be held at the house this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made at the cemetery at Geeseytown. Altoona Times, Saturday, July 25, 1903
