MERRITTS Mr. Merritts, 78, of Loop Station died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 1983, in Altoona Hospital, after a brief illness. Known as Butsy, Mr. Merritts retired as a track foreman from the middle division of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1970, after 50 years' service. He was born Feb. 5, 1905, in the Loop, the son of Harry and Maude (Henessey) Merritts, and Aug. 5, 1926, in Cumberland, Md., married Clara Adams, who died March 9, 1980. Surviving are two children: Delores Rinier of Duncansville and Melvin P. Jr. of Loop Station, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Plank & Stitt Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg. MERRITTS - Services for Melvin P. Merritts of Loop Station will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Plank & Stitt Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, by the Rev. Percy Claar. Interment in McIntire Cemetery, Catfish.
