Metz, died at 9:15 o'clock yesterday forenoon, at her home, 1115 Seventeenth avenue. A week ago last Friday her little son became ill with scarlet fever and died the following Sunday. The mother was stricken with the disease the following day, and being already prostrated by the loss of the boy, she failed rapidly till death claimed her. The deceased was the youngest daughter of Hon. Benj. L. Hewit. She was born in Williamsburg, July 4, 1863. On July 18, 1892, Miss Hewit became the wife of Robert H. Metz and September 1 following removed to this city. Mrs. Metz was a faithful Christian and a worth member of the First Lutheran church. Two children yet survive, both being too young to realize the extent of their irreparable loss. They are Harry LeRoy and Helen Anita Metz. Besides her husband and children Mrs. Metz leaves her father, five brothers and two sisters, as follows: Lemuel Hewit, at the old homestead near Williamsburg, George N., of Denver, Col.; Ross, Joseph and Neff, in California; Mrs. Ellie Firestine, of Utica, N.Y., and Mrs. Nettie Herr, of Durango, Col. Funeral services will be conducted at the house, 1115 Seventeenth avenue, at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning. Interment in Fairview cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Monday Evening, March 27, 1893
