M. Miles, of 604 Eleventh street, died at Camp Alfred Vail, Little Silver, N.J., yesterday morning at 4 o'clock, according to a telegram received in this city yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Little received a telegram on Wednesday evening from the commander at Camp Alfred Vail, stating that the son was in a critical condition, suffering from pneumonia, following an attack of influenza. She left yesterday morning on the 12:10 train for the camp, to be with her son, but he had died before she reached the camp. David Sheibley Miles was born at Wellsville, Ohio, 25 years ago, and had resided in this city most of his life. Before entering the service more than a year ago, he was employed as a clerk in the office of H. R. Pennington, at the West Bound Repair yard of the Pennsy. After enlisting in the service, he was doing clerical work at one of the army camps in Texas, but later entered the aerial service and, at the time of his death, was a member of the 122nd Aerial squadron. He is survived by his mother and one sister, Mrs. Harry Burns, both residing at 604 Eleventh street. The body will be brought to New Port today for interment. The time of the funeral will be announced later. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Friday Morning, October 18, 1918
