It was a surprise to the many friends of Adelbert Miller, many of whom were not aware of his illness, when the announcement was made on Saturday morning that he had died at his home, Dallas and Bald Eagle streets, that morning at 3.30 o'clock. Mr. Miller had been confined to his home for the past two weeks by an attack of bilious fever and was not considered at any time in a dangerous condition. Adelbert Miller was born In Wollback, Bavaria, December 5, 1841, where he remained until 1869, in which year he emigrated to this country, first settling in this borough, where he has ever since made his home. In 1870 he was united in marriage to Miss Ottillia Wirshing by Rev. Father John C. Farran in Saint Matthews' Catholic church on Spring and Ridge streets. To this union six children were born, two of whom, Mary and Frederica have preceded the father to the other shore. The wife and most intimate companion, and four children, John, Augustus, Tillie and Ambrose are left to mourn the great loss of their greatest and best friend. His aged mother in Bavaria is living as also his brothers and sisters - Leo Miller, of Tyrone; Octave Miller, of Houtzdale; Mrs. Frederica Long, of Snyder township; Johanna, Wilhelmina, Erhardt, and Wilhelm of Bavaria, Germany. Mr. Miller was a stone mason by trade and one of our most pushing and progressive citizens, honest and industrious and upright in all his dealings with his fellow man. A democrat in politics and at all times a prominent figure in the councils of that party in this county and borough. He was also a member of the Eintracht Singing society of this place, which association has been sadly decimated by the hand of death within the past three or four years. His death counts with those who have been a benefit to the community and who have crossed the line which divides time and eternity a short distance ahead of him. At death he was aged 49 years and 29 days. Funeral services will be had at the St. Matthew's chapel, Cameron street, this morning at 9 o'clock, where requiem mass will be officiated in by Rev. Father Kittell, after which interment in the Catholic cemetery at Oak Grove. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, January 5, 1891
