MARTIN MILLER A Splendid Type of Christian Character and Citizen of Good Influence Gone to His Eternal Home REV. DANIEL MATRIN [sic] MILLER. As briefly noted in the Herald last week, Rev. Daniel Martin Miller died at his home a short distance south of Martinsburg, Christmas afternoon about 2:45 o'clock, after an illness of about four week's of Bright's disease, superinduced by grip. Although his physician had little hope of his recovery, Mr. Miller appeared much better on Christmas morning and there was cheerfulness in the home because of his apparent improvement, but the death angel was lurking about and at the hour above noted, rather unexpectedly, the light of his life went out. Rev. Mr. Miller was a son of Henry S. and Margaret Miller and was born near Spring Hope, Bedford county, January 27, 1862, and was nearly 51 years of age. He came to Morrison's Cove about the time of his marriage to Miss Clara Stoner, daughter of Andrew Stoner, deceased, 29 years ago, in incident in his life being that his death occurred on the anniversary of his marriage. He began farming where H. K. Metzker and family now live, north of town, and continued until about twelve years ago, since which time he was employed as a wood worker in the blacksmith shop of H. K. Metzker, now conducted by D. L. Miller. About twenty years ago he was elected to the ministry in the Brethren in Christ, or River Brethren church, and was quite well known in Central Morrison's Cove. He was a good citizen, was unfailingly reliable in all that he said and did, and possessed a beautiful Christian character, thus leaving to his family an inheritance worth many times his pleasant home and other earthly possessions. The funeral took place Saturday morning, services being conducted in the Brethren in Christ church by Elder Isaac Stern, assisted by Rev. Frank Brown. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery. Surviving him are his wife, and these children: Isaac, merchant and postmaster of Newry; Elmer of Taylor township, and Mary, Henry and Fannie, at home. His mother preceded him about four years ago. His father, Henry S. Miller, three sisters and one brother are all living: Mrs. Annie Callithan of Ryot, Bedford county; Mrs. Maggie Oldham of Spring Hope; Mrs. Carrie Crawford of Elton, Cambria county, and Harry W. Miller of St. Michaels, Cambria county. Martinsburg Herald, January 3, 1913
