Miller, 103, Box 513, Riggles Gap, Altoona RD 1, formerly of Carson Valley Road, Duncansville, died Tuesday morning, May 20, 2003, at her residence. She was born April 27, 1900, in Port Matilda, the daughter of Alfred L. and Lucinda (Yingling) Maguire. She was formerly was married to Benson Conrad. She then married David P. Miller Jr., who died Aug. 26, 1983. Mrs. Miller attended Canan Station Mennonite Church. She retired as a cook from Altoona Hospital in 1943, had taught school for two years in the Port Matilda area and primarily was a homemaker. Mrs. Miller was a 1916 graduate of Port Matilda High School. She was a former member of the Altoona Poetry Society. She had written a column for the former Altoona Tribune. Surviving are two daughters: Dorothy Sharer, with whom she resided, and Jane Ramsey of Port Matilda; 13 grandchildren; 38 great- grandchildren; 44 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Spittler of Glenshaw. She was predeceased by a son, Alfred S. Conrad. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or funeral. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Port Matilda, with interment to follow.
