MAGGIE MILLER A Resident of Tyrone For Seventy Years, Died in Lock Haven On Sunday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock, Mrs. Maggie Miller, widow of Alonzo Miller passed away at the home of her son, Harry S. Miller, at Lock Haven, of paralysis, after only a few hours illness. "Grannie" Miller resided in Tyrone for 70 years and witnessed the growth of the community from only a few houses to its' present large proportions. To the kiddies and many of the older folks residing in the Eleventh Street section of the town, she was familiarly known as "Grannie" Miller, who remember her as one of the elderly women of the town who endeavored to make others happy who came in contact with her. Mrs. Maggie (Smith) Miller was born at Lewistown on November 20, 1851, and came to Tyrone when just a girl. On May 18, 1869, at McVeytown, she was united in marriage with Alonzo Miller, who preceded her to the grave a number of years ago. Surviving her passing are these sons and daughters: Charles E. Miller, Bellefonte, Pa.; Harry S. Miller, Lock Haven, Pa.; Fred Andrew Miller, Johnsonburg, Pa.; Mrs. Samuel Beegle, Saint Petersburg, Florida; Mrs. Earl McCahan, Tyrone, Pa., and John Miller, Tyrone. One son and two daughters preceded her to the grave. Thirty-eight grandchildren and thirty-eight great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Miller was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Tyrone and the Ladies' Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. The body will be brought overland from Lock Haven on Wednesday morning, reaching Tyrone about ten o'clock and will be taken to Mrs. Earl McCahan's home at 1250 Woodland Avenue, where funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Dr. Joseph A. Speer at 2:30. Interment in Grandview Cemetery. The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to the time of the funeral. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., October 3, 1932
