She was born May 23, 1909 in Coburn, PA, the only and beloved daughter of Zwingli A. and Nora (Kahler) Weaver. She attended high school in Spring Mills, taking the train from Coburn to Spring Mills on a daily basis. Young teacher-trainees from Penn State were some of her teachers. While there she was a member of the girls' basketball team. She later attended a business school in Williamsport and was trained as a secretary. She was married in 1929 to G. Russell Miller of Millheim. They had a daughter and a son. Surviving are a daughter Doris and husband Robert Hamilton of Menifee, CA, and a son Robert and wife Rhoda of Tyrone, four grandchildren, Cindy Hamilton, Rick Hamilton and wife Holly, Deborah Carroll and husband Wayne and David Miller, three great- grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and her Persian cat, Scampi. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984. She was for 60 years a homemaker in Millheim, active in church and community. She was an avid bowler and kept in touch all her life with members of her bowling league. In 1990 she moved to Tipton (Tyrone). Badly crippled by arthritis, she spent her final years in a wheelchair. In spite of her difficult situation, she refused to surrender and continued to go out and about as often as possible. In addition to bowling, her earlier interests included sewing, cooking, bridge, gardening, reading, and collecting antique dishes. She had a lively interest in people. She was a loving and much-loved mother and grandmother. From childhood she was a church member, in recent years of St. John's Lutheran Church in Millheim, and an associate member of the Lutheran Church in Tyrone. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Blair County Humane Society. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, 120 W. Main Street, Millheim, with Rev. James K. Rill, officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Millheim. Tyrone Daily Herald, May 14, 2007
