Marie Mingnoungno Crushed to Death By Trolley Car. This morning at 9:30 o’clock, Mary Rener, Mary Mingnongno and her little sister, Marie Mingnongno, all of Thomastown, came to town and were on their way home when just a few yards West of Hoover’s Lane, they saw a trolley car approaching. When the car was about twenty feet from the children, little Marie broke away from her sister, ran across the road and landed in front of the car. The supposition is the child became frightened and thought she would be safer in the field than on the road and was caught before the motorman could get his car stopped. It is a very sad death and no blame can be placed on anyone except the little girl herself. When the accident occurred the other two little girls scampered off home and told the sad story to Marie’s parents. In the meantime the body was taken from under the wheels and carried to Undertaker Graham’s establishment, where it was prepared for burial. Marie Mingnongno was aged about four years. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mingnongno of Thomastown. The body was taken home this afternoon. Motorman Poweley was in charge of the car and he claims he did everything in his power to bring the big steel car to a standstill before it hit the child, but failed in his efforts.
