MITCHELL, 86, of Hazel Court, Mechanicsburg and formerly of Altoona, PA, died Thursday, May 20, 2004 in the Harrisburg Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Altoona on October 28, 1917, the son of the late Roy E. and Martha Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jack C, Mitchell, Jr.; two grandsons, Craig and Ronald Mitchell; 2 great granddaughters, Jessica Mitchell and Rhonda Jo Porta. Jack is survived by his friend and companion, Patty Fisher of Mechanicsburg; a son, Allen R. and wife Ruth Mitchell of Altoona; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Jack was a World War II Veteran, having served in the Pacific area. He retired as a civilian employee at the New Cumberland Army Depot. Jack enjoyed bicycle riding and working on cars. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 10 a.m. in the Stone and Murray Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Burial with full military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
