He was a son of Hughey and Esther Mock and was born in St. Clairsville, Bedford county, February 24, 1852. In December 1877 he was united in marriage with Sara L. Drollinger, of Cessna. A short time later they established their new home in Imlertown, Bedford county, where he lived with his family until fourteen years ago, when he with them became residents of Roaring Spring. For thirty-five years Mr. Mock was a teacher in the public schools of Bedford county. After arriving in Roaring Spring he accepted a position in the blank book factory where he was employed until he was elected to serve the town as burgess, which office he creditably filled for four years. He next became local agent for the Adams Express company, serving in that capacity at the time of his death. Mr. Mock was a faithful and earnest member of the Lutheran church, having joined the Messiah Lutheran church of Bedford township thirty- nine years ago. Besides being a zealous worker for the cause of right, he was always ready to lend aid to any progressive movement as well as champion the cause of better education facilities for this town. He was the father of eight children, one of whom, Mrs. Effie Simpson, preceded him to the eternal kingdom two years ago; the following with his wife survive: Mrs. Fannie Snyder, Mrs. Elizabeth Kurtz, Mrs. Mary Vaughn, Robert and Emment [Emmett], all of Roaring Spring, and Misses Pearl and Jessie, at home. Nine grandchildren survive, also three brothers and two sisters, viz: Hezekiah and George, of Imlertown; Luther, of Buffalo Mills; Mrs. Hannah Kauffman, of St. Clairsville, and Mrs. Sara E. Anderson, of Detroit, Mich. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. H. E. Berkey at the home on Water Street at 2 p.m. today. Interment in Greenlawn cemetery.
