Howard F. Moffet Well Known Tipton Resident Died on Wednesday The passing away of Postmaster Howard F. Tipton at his home at Tipton yesterday afternoon at 1:40 o’clock, has removed from that village one of its most substantial and esteemed citizens. Mr. Moffet’s death was very sudden and unexpected. While he had been seriously over the past winter and early spring, he had apparently recovered and in normal health again. Howard F. Moffet was born November 23, 1872 at Masseysburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Hiram and Lydia Fleming Moffet. He entered the employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad in early life. He went to Tipton from Petersburg in 1902 and since had resided in Tipton. He was a section road foreman on the main line near Tipton for more than thirty-five years, having been an employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad for more than forty-four years. Mr. Moffet is survived by his widow and by one daughter, Miss Frances at home, and by two sons, Harold A Moffet, of Washington, Pa., and Paul A Moffet of Tipton. One brother, Mahlon Moffet, of Bellwood, and two grandchildren, also survive. Mr. Moffet was a conscientious and faithful employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad company. He was a Christian gentleman and sincere in his religious beliefs. He was a member of the Logan Valley Presbyterian church at Bellwood and an elder in the church. He was superintendant of the Tipton Pines Presbyterian Sunday school near Bland Park and had he lived he would have had a prominent part in the home-coming services to be held by this mother church on Sunday. Funeral services will be held at the Logan Valley Presbyterian church of Bellwood on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, followed by burial in the Petersburg cemetery. The body may be viewed at the home. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
